Blues looking for 3rd-straight win

By Rob Gerein | December 7, 2009

The St. Louis Blues will be trying for their first three-game winning streak of the season when they host the Colorado Avalanche on Monday.

The Blues are -150 favorites and the over/under total is 5.5 in NHL Hockey Lines at Sportingbet.

St. Louis has a 7-3 edge over the past 10 head-to-head. The Blues were on the winning side of a 1-0 shutout the last time the teams squared off, on April 12 last season. The last time the teams clashed in St. Louis March 7 last season, a 4-1 Blues win.

The Avalanche beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 win at Nationwide Arena Saturday. Colorado won as a +140 road underdog while the final score played under the 5.5-goal total.

The Blues gave up a late tying goal but came away with 5-4 shootout victory over the Kings at the STAPLES Center Saturday night.

St. Louis won as a +115 road underdog while the final score played over the 5.5-goal total.

St. Louis is 12-10-5 and has won two straight. Colorado is 16-9-6.

Over/under bettors should note a strong under trend: The total has gone under in four of the past five meetings overall, in seven of the past nine meetings in St. Louis, and in 18 of Colorado’s last 25 on the road.
