Pittsburg Penguins vs. Montreal Canadiens (7:00 pm ET, CBC)

By admin | April 30, 2010

Pittsburgh Penguins lock horns with Montreal Canadiens (7:00 pm ET, CBC) in Game 1 at Mellon Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Penguins are No. 4 seeded whereas the Canadiens are No.8 seeded. Both the teams will sweat it out to advance to the conference finals.

To overcome a three-games-to-one deficit, the Canadiens are the first No.8 seed to do that. They knocked out the much favored Washington Capitals by 2-1 in Game 7.

The star players for Canadiens are undoubtedly Jaroslav Halak, a superb goaltender. He stopped 131 of 134 shots in the series’ final three games. The offence led by Michael Cammalleri has been impressive. He scored in all 7 games and finished with 10 points.

For the Penguins, they have Sidney Crosby, a match winner. The captain has scored 14 points in the six-game series. Other key players for Penguins are Matt Cooke and Jordan Staal.

Tyler Kennedy and Chris Kunitz look skeptical although they attended the strenuous practice. Defensemen Jordan Leoplod is also doubtful. For Canadiens, Jaroslav Spacek is ill and may not make it to the first game.

Oddsmakers from various online NHL betting websites have given Pittsburgh a betting line of -500 to win this series while Montreal has been given a +350 line.
